Hyalgan -A relief from Oesteoarthirities

Hyalgan is an injectable fluid used for the treatment of osteoarthritis. It relieves the knee pain due to Osteoarthritis. The generic name of Hyalgan is Sodium hyaluronate. Sodium hyaluronate is similar to synovial fluid, a substance secreted by our joints naturally. Synovial fluid acts as a lubricant and shock absorber. The injection is given intra-articular (into the joint) injection. Hyalgan was the first FDA approved hyaluronan therapy.

Hyalgan is a boon to Osteoarthritis patients. Osteoarthritis most often occurs in old age. But it may affect people of any age. Generally middle aged people are affected by it. At the age of 70 it is common in almost every one when there is not proper secretion Synovial fluid in the joints. Women are commonly affected by this disease after the age 55. The affected joints will have loss of the joint space, and in advanced cases, wearing down of the ends of the bone and spurring of bone occurs. Hyalgan is used for treatment  is for people of all ages suffering from Osteoarthritis. Hyalgan has given a ray of relief for patients with bear less pain.

Hyalgan should be given 16 milligrams (mg) once a week (one week apart) for a total of three injections. Hyalgan should be given after doctor's consultation. For children the dose is determined by the doctor. You should not do any strenuous activities for the first 48 hours. You should avoid the activities that involve exertion of your legs like jogging, heavy lifting, playing tennis, or standing for a long period of time. Hyalgan should be stored below 86 degree F. You should not take Hyalgan if you are allergic to hyaluronate sodium derivative, other hylans, hyaluronate sodium, bird protein, feathers, or egg products, foods , preservatives, or dyes.

Hyalgan should be taken as the dose and time prescribed by doctor. If you have missed any dose then immediately contact your doctor. If accidentally you have taken overdose of Hyalgan, then contact your doctor. It is better to inform your doctor in case you are taking any other medications for some other disease you have. However, the effect of other drugs on Hyalgan is not known.
