Information
Precose (Acarbose) is known as Prandase in Canada. Precose is a glucosidase inhibitor used to treat diabetes mellitus (sugar diabetes).
Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. Take Precose at the start (with the first bite) of each main meal. IF YOU ARE TAKING Precose with another oral medicine for diabetes, be sure you understand you must use glucose to treat a low blood sugar reaction. With this medicine, sucrose (table sugar) products cannot treat low blood sugar reactions. STORE Precose below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) in a tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF Precose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do NOT take 2 doses at once.

Side Effects
SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include gas, bloating, diarrhea, or stomach pain. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
